Friday Night, May 9 at Insight Jazz Club promises an intimate musical celebration!

Guitarist Alexander Kumanov and the remarkable Neven Petrova – a jazz singer with a uniquely memorable voice and interpretations – will present one of their many stylistic incarnations with the program:
“Sensual Bossa Nova & Blues”

In this captivating blend, you’ll hear:

• the elegant beauty of bossa nova from Rio,

• the captivating swing of the mid-20th century, and

• the sensual sound of the blues.

Joining them once again is Hristo Minchev on double bass – their favorite musical partner both in Plovdiv and around the world, with whom they’ve recorded two albums.

Plovdiv’s strong jazz presence is further enhanced by Ivan Melin and his virtuoso trombone playing.

We’ll meet where:

• the roaring streams of the blues merge with

• the deep waters of jazz and

• the cool evening breeze over Copacabana...

A velvety timbre, warmth, plenty of swing, and a touch of blues—the contralto voice of Adriana will bring to life the most iconic songs from the repertoire of Canadian jazz diva Diana Krall.
In the cosy atmosphere of “Jazz Insights” we will enjoy classic jazz pieces such as "They Can't Take That Away from Me" and "Cry Me a River," alongside signature interpretations of songs like "Just the Way You Are" and "California Dreamin'," and even "Abandoned Masquerade" (composed by Diana Krall in collaboration with Elvis Costello). In addition, Adriana will present some original compositions in the same musical style.

The great Cuban pianist Guillermo Rubalcaba (Buena Vista Social Club) says that Cubans need very little to be happy:
